Here's a story certain to rile Apple fans and accessory manufacturers alike. Today's latest iPhone 5 rumour is that Apple's next smartphone will be dropping the traditional 30-pin port of their iPhone, iPod and iPad products in favour of a new 19-pin port. Time to start bagging all your docks and chargers up for the charity shop, we're afraid.
According to several Tech Crunch sources, third-party manufacturers are having to go back to the drawing board in order to deliver compatible products for the next gen phone.
The rumour follows several reports of brand new casing design being developed for the iPhone 5, featuring a headphone jack, two mic holes, and two speakers sitting either side of a port not unlike a microUSB port. That may well turn out to be the fabled new 19-pin port.
